Greater Buffalo-Niagara Regional Transportation Council (GBNRTC)

Buffalo – Niagara Falls area metropolitan planning organization responsible for transportation studies, planning, and programming of federal transportation funds in Erie and Niagara Counties.

About

The GBNRTC is focused on establishing a comprehensive, cooperative, and continuing transportation planning process for Erie and Niagara Counties’ metropolitan area.

To do this, the GBNRTC develops a long-range regional transportation plan, known as the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). The GBNRTC also maintains a short-range program of projects, known as the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), to fund with federal transportation money.

By creating a vision for the region with our plans, and by identifying projects and investments that help achieve that vision, the GBNRTC ensures that scarce public funds are spent moving the Buffalo-Niagara Region toward its planning goals.

The metropolitan planning process allows for the allocation of millions of dollars in federal funding annually to improve transportation for all modes of travel, such as infrastructure for walking, biking, public transit, automobiles – and more.

For our plans, it’s the GBNRTC’s duty to engage many different stakeholders, including the general public, in the planning process. Your input is essential to the metropolitan planning process and we value your feedback. Learn more about our Public Participation Plan and Title VI Policy and how to get involved.
