Core Program: The flagship program of the CEL, Core enhances the talents and operating abilities of practicing entrepreneurs.  Core empowers you to overcome business challenges, create new opportunities and develop meaningful connections in the business community. As a practicing entrepreneur, you will elevate your talents and operating abilities with the help of this peer-based, mentor-driven program as you meet once a week for nine months. You should apply to the Core program if you:
  • Are the owner or a strategic decision-maker of an established business with significant annual revenues
  • Wish to move beyond your current revenue plateau
  • Strive to be more strategic and less encumbered by day-to-day issues
  • Wish to control and direct the forces that shape your life
  • Contribute to the community and the lives of others through your venture
The Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership selects Core candidates for the fall program through August of each year.  Apply early as it is not unusual for the class to be filled before the deadline. Scholarship opportunities exist, ranging from $2,000-$4,000, depending on specific eligibility criteria.   M&T Bank Minority and Women Emerging Entrepreneurs (MWEE): The MWEE program will help you move your company to the next stage of development. You will work with a mentor, attend biweekly business development seminars and networking events, and complete a revised or newly developed business plan. You should apply to the MWEE program if you:
  • Are the owner of an emerging business with annual revenue below $300,000
  • Wish to formulate clear objectives and outcomes to guide the development of your business plan
  • Strive to learn about and connect with organizations and resources – public and private – that can assist with the development of your business
The MWEE program is partially funded with a generous grant from M&T Bank. To apply, you must be either a woman or a member of a recognized minority and own a business in the Buffalo-Niagara region. Apply early as it is not unusual for the class to be filled before the deadline.
